Opening of the Honorary Consulate of South Sudan in Beirut
On 08/12/2020, the opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of South Sudan was held in Beirut, represented by her Honorary Consul Mr. Ali Myree, in the presence of a diplomatic delegation from South Sudan, including: Mr. Mayen Dut wol, Undersecretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation, Director of Visas at the South Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador, Victoria Samuel Arue & representative of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in Lebanon Mrs. Mia Al Adam & political, diplomatic, security and military actors.
The Honorary Consul Mr. Ali Myree said in this occasion that this historic day is the real day of the start of diplomatic relations between the Republic of South Sudan and the Lebanese Republic, at the initiative of the Republic of South Sudan, led by President Salva Kiir Mayardit and with his personal guidance.
Honorary Consul Mr. Ali Maryee added: “In view of the responsibility that had been given to us, since the first day we had assumed this responsibility and trust by organizing files and following up the situation of our south Sudanese children in Lebanon”. He finished by thanking the brothers and the members of the delegation of the Republic of South Sudan for their presence in their second homeland, & wishing success, peace, stability and prosperity in order to affirm the policy of open hand on the part of the leadership and people of the South Sudan to the leadership and people of Lebanon.
From his side Mr. Mayen Dut wol, Undersecretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation, Emphasized the necessity to facilitate the issuance of official documents, birth certificates, visas and passports, and he confirmed his readiness to hear all the problems. He also hoped to open an embassy in Juba, which will strengthen bilateral relations between southern Sudan and Lebanon.
